All Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder Review and Extras - The Complete Box Set

One of the four graphic novels I got for Christmas from my Girlfriend. I thoroughly enjoyed this book of the modern re-imagining of the the first meeting and formation of the Dynamic Duo; Batman and Robin.

The All Star line was a introduced by DC Comics to retell stories of DC's best known characters free of continuity. Created by two of the best in industry; written by Frank Miller and illustrated by Jim Lee, this 2005-2008 limited series is the modern retelling of Batman recruiting young Dick Grayson in his war on crime.

Although the series was not that well received and went on hiatus after issue #10.  I loved it, this Batman may not be everyone's interpretation of the Dark Knight but its a fun one. This Batman is wreck-less, violent and likes to laugh as he descends on a group of thugs in for a beating. The series also features an early arrangement of the Justice League, who are concerned of how Batman actions reflect on the superhero community. It features appearances of Superman, Hal Jordan, Wonder Woman and Black Canary among others this interesting and enjoyable read. The story is great, the art is superb but the only drawback is that it feels incomplete, the series went on hiatus after issue #10 which was recalled and it was planned to return titled "Dark Knight: Boy Wonder" which never materialized in 2011 and shortly after the New 52 was announced. I really enjoyed this controversial series and I preferred it to Grant Morrision's All Star Superman.

All Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder Volume 1 collects issues 1 - 9 of this hugely enjoyed but short lived series.

Extras: The Complete Collection DVD
Since last week I've been watching Extras. I purchased the complete box
set a few years back and in typical box set fashion, I've only began watching it recently. This sitcom from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant is hilarious. It follows the life of Andy, an TV and film extra striving for bigger and better things as an accomplished Actor while dim Agent struggles to find him better roles. Andy is accompanied by air head best friend Maggie, who on occasion gets Andy in a few spots of bother as she always fails to think before she speaks.

The Box Set contains 12 episodes of seasons 1 and 2 seasons and the TV Christmas Special. The show features twisted versions of well know Celebrities playing themselves including, Kate Winslet, Ben Stiller, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Martin, Daniel Radcliffe and many many more in mortifying and hilarious situations. The show was extremely well received in both the UK and US and is an all round great British comedy. So if your looking for something different and that never feels dated you should check it out.

My Canon IXUS 132 Digital Camera Review.

Camera details:Canon IXUS 132 Digital Camera - Blue (16MP, 28mm Wide Angle, Eco Mode, 8x Optical Zoom) 2.7-Inch LCD

Delighted with this great Camera with creative features. Slim, fun and easy to use.

I purchased this Camera for myself after Christmas. I had been on the look out for a new one (preferably Blue) for sometime. My a member of my Girlfriends Family got this one for Christmas and mentioned one of it's great features. I researched the camera and decided to make the purchase. Brilliant shade of Blue.

This Camera had a ton of features and shooting modes. My last Camera was 5 years old that I bought for college work and was a pretty basic camera in comparison. This camera had so much more to offer. Firstly it looked great and has a ton of great features. I loved how easy it is to switch between automatic/ general picture taking mode and scene mode that takes pictures in creative fun modes. You simply flick the little switch to get between general and creative mode.

Colour Accent - RED

In the creative mode there is a lot of different modes to take photos in that you simply toggle through with ease on the camera. My favorites of these are the Colour Accent, which takes a photo in black and white a keeps the selected colour. Colour switch swaps one colour with another, it works well. Other favorite effects were the Posterized effect, Vivid, and Toy camera effect which darken the edges of the frame to create a distinctive feel. It is a real benefit how easy to go between the creative mode and auto mode.

The same goes for video recording as this camera has its own dedicated button to go instantly to video recording mode. Something my previous camera did not have so you really appreciate it here. This is just how modern this camera is as previously I had to turn the dial on my old camera to get to other modes. This camera has a more direct method that also lets you video record in any of the creative modes allowing you to record videos in super vivid, monochrome of whichever you like.

Another great feature is the timer, all cameras have a self timer mode for picture taking, this camera does too but also a 3 smart shutter modes. Smile mode, automatically takes picture when smile is detected, Wink Shutter to have the picture taken when someone winks to tell camera to take the picture and New face timer that counts down when new face enters the scene. I've taken alot of family photos recently and one thing I haven't done so far is to fix red eye on computer afterwards. My previous camera had a red eye flash mode which had two flashes, one to clear the red eye about to be taken and the second flash takes the picture. This didn't always work and people moved after the first flash. This camera does not suffer with that problem as it has a built in red lamp to clear red eye, it is a pretty standard feature of modern cameras.

You can also crop pictures in camera. I was very happy with this camera and I really enjoy it. The camera battery is not charged in the camera and instead the battery is placed in a charger. The battery is small and this method of charging allows the camera to be smaller.

The battery is charged in the battery pack with a short lead going to the power source. I did wish that battery pack plugged straight in to a power source but that was my only minor gripe and it would be one less lead when I'm travelling. It means too that you can have spare battery charging externally. I am extremely happy with this camera and the creative modes features. I would highly recommend this camera and its fun and easy to use.The Canon IXUS 132 Compact Digital Camera is available from in a selection of four colours and should be available from all good retailers.

Canon IXUS 140 Colours
Or as an alternative the Canon IXUS 140 Compact Digital Camera that recently released that is the same camera but with added Wi-Fi feature if that is of interest to you.
Wi-Fi allows to connect with your home Wi-Fi network for sending to compatible printers and others devices like laptops, tablets and smart phones for fast and convenient uploading online.

So there it is. My Canon IXUS 132 Compact Digital Camera review. I hoped you enjoyed this review and it was helpful to you. If your looking for more specific information on the details of either cameras you can follow the link to the Canon website for the Canon IXUS 132 or the Canon IXUS 140.

Happy Snapping

Broadchurch review

Hello

I thought I'd share my thought on British TV series BROADCHURCH. This television crime drama was broadcast on ITV from March 2013  and has since been broadcast in the US since that Autumn and received allot critical acclaim and a lot of publicity during this drama series of "whodunit" which involved the murder of an eleven year old boy and the search for the killer led by Detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, played by David Tennant and Olivia Coleman.

I got a lend of it on DVD from much acclaim from my girlfriends Mum :)

I was hooked after the first episode and flew through this 8 episode series in under a week. The mystery surrounding this poor boys death really shook up this small town community as such a crime was isolated in such an idyllic community where - everyone knew everybody- feel to it.

It was a great series full of twists and the residents having secrets exposed during the investigation led by Hardy as the outsider looking in and Ellie who was conflicted as a member of the community who had a harder time being suspicious of her friends and people she has know for such a long time.

It was series where anyone watching it would have suggested their own theories about the murder.I highly recommend this series, so if you spot repeats of  it on TV or treat yourself to it on DVD. I guarantee you will be hooked on this series. A second series is currently in production and a US remake has been commissioned with David Tennant reprising the lead role in the series re-titled GRACEPOINT which is set to air sometime during 2014-2015 season.

Below is an image of the DVD cover art and product description

A hot morning in July and the Dorset town of Broadchurch, is bracing itself for the tourist season, when Danny Latimer, an 11 year old schoolboy, goes missing. His mother, Beth, frantically starts to search for him while her best friend, Ellie Miller, a local police officer, arrives at work to discover that the promotion she thought was hers has gone to D.I Alec Hardy an outsider with a reputation for failure. When Danny s body is found beneath the picturesque cliffs that dominate the town opposites collide. Both Miller and Hardy are determined to solve the mystery of Danny's murder, Ellie perhaps too sensitive to the people in her community; Alec as efficient as he is blunt. When news of the crime spreads through the town, a chain reaction begins which will put Broadchurch under a national spotlight, pulling the town, its residents and its secrets, apart. You're Next

YOU'RE NEXT
So the biggest highlight of my weekend was the recently released Horror movie YOU'RE NEXT. Home invasion horror where a family come under attack by a masked gang.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie as it was original and few good scares and great laughs with some inspiration from the Home Alone movies. Myself and my girlfriend really enjoy it. Well me more than her. Really entertaining and well worth checking out.
